Mid Summer Update
Well, I warned you that this would be a quiet time for blogging.
There just is not much happening- the Royals are finished, football season hasn’t started, the house projects are pretty much finished for the year [except painting the kitchen] and the economic slide that started in 2007 is stalled as people still digest the “green shoots” lie being put out by the corporate media.
So really, we’re in a holding pattern for the big topics that I’d normally write about.
On a smaller scale, there are some projects that I’m working on that are of local interest:
Freight Tracker: I started work on a .net program to help a buddy track his work as a freight broker. It sounds like a little project but it provide some seriously powerful leverage for his work. I’m looking forward to seeing the impact it has on his workload. Of course I grew up on older versions of the languages that I ‘m working on so the learning curve is steep. Combine that with my “trial and error” learning method and you can see where this is going to take some time.
Garden: Cukes and tomatoes are coming in from the garden. We’re starting to get some carrots, too. We should have put some more time into it to maximize the yields but the crop is usually so big that we end up giving a lot away. The cucumber may be hitting its limit which means only 10 jars of pickles this year
That’s really it. Just not a lot going on. I’m sure things will pick up in the fall.
